Ongoing volunteer opportunities

Ongoing- RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Tagging Project. The library has begun tagging items in the collection and STAFF NEED YOUR HELP as EPL has over 330,000 items to tag! The training tutorial is super easy and takes 10 minutes to complete. You can set your own hours and work at your own pace. EPL is looking for volunteers with crocheting experience that are willing to teach as well. A new fall program is in the works called "Crime and Crochet". Participants would listen to a true crime book while crocheting together. Interested? Contact Cherie Asante at casante@cityofevanston.org if interested in volunteering.

Do you speak more than one language? Are you looking to practice a language you are learning? Language Cafe meets monthly at the Main Library on the 2nd Saturday from 1:00-3:00pm and the 3rd Tuesday from 5:30-7:30pm. Volunteers are needed to lead table conversations in a variety of languages. For High School Students only- Book Buddies at Robert Crown Library begins Thursday, September 26th from 4:30-5:30 pm and meets every Thursday throughout the school year. Volunteers MUST sign up ahead of time. Sign up.  

Children's area toy cleaner. Main Library- ongoing and as needed. Volunteer to clean toys in the children's area of the Main Library. Contact Cherie Asante at casante@cityofevanston.org if interested in volunteering.

Plant Maintenance and Watering. Volunteers are needed to care for and water the many, many plants throughout the Main Library.  Contact Cherie Asante at casante@cityofevanston.org if interested in volunteering.

Serve as Greeter at EPL: Contact Cherie Asante, EPL volunteer coordinator, if interested at  casante@cityofevanston.org. You would receive training for this volunteer role which is open to adults only. 

Post flyers for EPL events: Help organize, deliver and hang flyers at various locations around Evanston. This volunteer opportunity is open to anyone 14 or older. A car or bike is helpful, but walking is doable.  Contact Cherie Asante at casante@cityofevanston.org if interested.
